Public spaces offer a range of opportunities for children’s learning, and can enable children to investigate, observe, wonder, record and create.

Here are ideas for outings for observation, recording, and information-gathering, and as a stimulus for activities back in the classroom. There are separate suggestions for each of KS1, KS2 (years 3/4) and KS2 (years 5/6).

Creative linking of subjects encourages more rounded learning. This is part of a set of subject areas also covering History, Literacy, and Art & Design.
