Here is a letter from the children after their outing to a local garden square.

Plant identification: Nancy Wild and children at work in Woburn Square, central London

We loved our trip to Gordon and Woburn Squares. It is a beautiful place because it makes people come to visit it and its nice and clean and fresh. We enjoyed looking at all of the flowers, bugs and other animals like butterflies and pigeons, trees, wild berries and all the different leaves.

We used the information sheets you sent with your pack to find out what different animals and plants were. The decision trees about 'bugs on bushes' was great because we found a noctuid caterpillar, hoverfly larvae, a crab spider, flea beetles and springtails, and an earwig. We even found a bumblebee in Woburn Square, it was cut in half!!

We wrote down names of the trees, drew pictures of flowers and plants and insects. Some of us even did leaf rubbing. We used the sheet about habitats in Woburn Square.

We had a lovely trip and wanted to say thank you for organising the pack to help our teacher help us learn more about flowers and insects.

We will recommend other classes in our school to visit these places and use the information you provided in the pack.
