This is the third of a four-volume story about Jane and Sam’s adventures in Roman Britain in the time of the Emperor Hadrian (117-138 AD).
Pax Romana is detective story set in Roman Britain. The individual chapters can be used to help pupils understand what life in Roman Britain was like. You can use the web-links as a free-standing source of information and pictures about life in Roman Britian.
The Emperor Hadrian is visiting Britain to see how the building of his wall is getting on. His treasure is stolen and a man is murdered on Hadrian’s wall. Jane and Sam follow clues to Deva [Chester] and Wroxeter, and experience life in a Roman town. Jane visits a Roman villa where she thinks people are involved in the plot. Then they travel to Londinium (London) – the treasure may be hidden in there. Finally they go to Fishbourne Palace where, like Miss Marple, Jane explains how the plot worked and exposes the master-mind.
Pax Romana means the Roman Peace.
